Ok, so this is definitely not “tomorrow,” lol, but regardless, I’m back within a week, so let’s celebrate the small victories.
About a year ago I tried the FabFitFun subscription box, which to be honest was awesome, but the price point is a bit high for me to receive it regularly. The contents were great, but it definitely felt like a one time luxury for me personally. If you want to/can receive a $50 subscription box regularly, good for you, and I highly recommend it.
With that being said, I received a 3 month subscription to Headspace as part of the box I received. For those of you who don’t know, Headspace is “meditation made simple. Learn online, when you want, wherever you are, in just 10 minutes a day.” I had already downloaded the free version of the app, with corresponding Apple watch app, and I’m getting great use out of it so far.
With my pregnancy I was on modified bed rest for quite some time, and coming back to work in NYC was actually pretty jarring. Going from being in Jersey City and the suburbs of NJ, to being back to the grind, with a full on commute, was really intense. Being able to listen to a 10 minute session of a calming voice, with a delightful British accent, guiding me through what is essentially a ‘check in’ to see how/why my body is tense or stressed, has been super helpful in getting me to relax my muscles and breathe. It’s amazing that sometimes, that’s all we need.
And so, if you’re looking for some peace of mind, then I highly recommend downloading Headspace and giving it a go. It’s certainly helped me find a sliver of peace in a city that can be particularly unforgiving.
